LETTERS TO THE UN
Dear. Mr. Secretary-General of the UN
We understand how imensly complex the problems which on a planetary scale the UN is currently involved, in a permanent and honourable search for world peace and balance.
In our opinion, it is prioritary to gift the Organization with structures of Justice, the only way to achieve the said peace between people and nations..
It is precisely in the complex picture of the present world situation, which, understanding the importance and the value of the problems that affect numerous abandoned and tired people, there must be in the UN's agenda the effort to solve them, having as a background an inflexible defense of the Human Rights, as formulated by the Organization in the Declaration written over half a century ago.
This brief first message of ours is motivated by the urgency to place in the UN's agenda the problem of CABINDA, a territory with proven right to it's self-determination, but occupated and submited to a ditatorial and neo-colonialist government of Angola since 1975, with the reprovable cooperation of Portugal. It's 25 years of suffering which must be put to a stop. Is there any motive, Mr. Secretary-General, to keep this problem silenced? Which interests are more worthy than the people's freedom?
In the exposed context, this message sent to a sensible and worthy world leader, we appeal, with an aching voice, to the good will and undeniable urge to aid the needy, as demonstrated by the actions taken place by yourself, and also encouraged by the solution found in Timor Lorosae, we urge to consider the problem of Cabinda as urgent one.
Having yourself as an intermediary, mobilize the nationalist of Cabinda, genuinely represented by the FLEC-FAC (Liberation Front of the State of Cabinda - Armed Forces of Cabinda), Portugal and Angola, to iniciate urgent, honest and open negotiations, as to find a political solution to the problem of Cabinda.
Hear the shouts, the screams and cry of our people. From now on, we trust you, in the name of a people deprived of liberty and self-awareness, this elementar mission of justice, backed by International Laws, of which the UN must be the guardian.

Dating from the 29th of September of the present year, and through the UN Mission in Portugal, we addressed your excellency an appeal for the introduction in the UN priorities agenda the Cabinda file. We are sure, having in consideration your profile, that this appeal was not ignored.
Having said that, we await news and developments on the case, fundamental in the context of the Nation's Rights adopted by the UN, that demands an urgent solution when we realize the people of Cabinda is drowned in blood in is currently a victim of a neo-colonial oppression with the sole purpose of the subtraction of natural resources.
Simultaneously, we are aware that to achieve the goal of negotiations between the belligerent parts some time is needed. It cannot be much.
Meanwhile, the people suffer. And who wants to see him suffer? To whom does this silenced suffering matters? It is necessary the UN to consider as an action to be taken urgently the institution of an HUMANITARIAN AID PROGRAM. Therefore, we trust you this request. The people of Cabinda cannot wait! He needs food, medication, clothes. He needs Peace.
Not a peace at any cost, but a genuine and worthy peace.

Exmo Senhor Secretário Geral da ONU
Compreendemos como são imensos e complexos os problemas em que, à escala planetária, a ONU se encontra actualmente envolvida, numa permanente e meritória procura de paz e equilíbrio mundial, no contexto das nações.
Na nossa opinião, é imperioso dotar a Organização de estruturas de Justiça, único meio que possibilitará alcançar a procurada paz entre os povos e as nações.
É precisamente num quadro complexo da situação mundial actual, que, compreendendo a importância e o valor dos problemas que afectam muitos povos abandonados e esgotados , deve fazer parte da agenda da ONU o esforço para a sua resolução, tendo como pano de fundo a defesa intransigente dos Direitos Humanos, na formulação da Declaração aprovada pela Organização, há mais de meio século.
Esta nossa primeira e breve mensagem, é motivada pela urgência de colocar em agenda o problema de CABINDA , território com reiterado direito à autodeterminação, mas ocupado e população submetida, pelo governo ditatorial e neo - colonialista angolano, desde 1975, com a ignóbil colaboração de Portugal. São 25 anos de sofrimento, que precisam de um termo.
Há algum motivo, Senhor Secretário - Geral, para manter silenciado este problema? Que interesses podem valer mais do que a liberdade de um povo?
No contexto do que expusemos, nesta mensagem que enviamos a um dirigente mundial sensível e digno, apelamos, com voz de dor imensa, à boa vontade e ao inegável espírito de serviço de V. Exa., incontornavelmente demonstrado pela acção desenvolvida no importante cargo que ocupa, também animados pela solução encontrada para Timor Lorosae, a que coloque o problema de CABINDA, na ordem do dia. É um problema urgente e de consciência.
Por intermédio de V. Exa., Senhor Secretário - Geral, mobilizem - se as partes ‹ Nacionalistas Cabindeses, genuinamente representados na FLEC - FAC (Frente de Libertação do Estado de Cabinda - Forças Armadas de Cabinda), Portugal e Angola ‹para negociações urgentes, francas e abertas, destinadas a encontrar uma solução política para o problema de CABINDA.
Ouça o apelo, o grito e o choro do nosso Povo. A partir deste momento, confiamos - lhe, em nome de um Povo privado de liberdade e do exercício da sua identidade, esta missão de elementar justiça, à luz do Direito Internacional, de que a ONU deve ser garante. Bem haja!

Com data de 29 de Setembro de 2000 e através da Missão da ONU em Portugal,
endereçamos a V. Exa. uma sentida carta de apelo, a que seja colocado, na
agenda de prioridades da ONU, o caso de Cabinda. Estamos certos, tendo
presente o perfil de V. Exa. , que o apelo não foi ignorado, antes aceite.E por esse facto aguardamos para breve notícias e desenvolvimentos sobre
este assunto, tão fundamental no quadro do Direito das Nações, tão actual
relativamente aos objectivos de paz entre os Povos, que a ONU adopta e a
exigir uma solução urgente se atendermos a que o Povo de Cabinda está
mergulhado em sangue e vítima de uma opressão de carácter neo-colonial, a
repudiar veementemente, com o intuito descarado, de o subtraír das suas
riquezas naturais.Simultaneamente, temos consciência que, para alcançar o objectivo de
realização de negociações entre as partes interessadas, é preciso algum
tempo. Não pode ser muito.Entretanto, o nosso Povo sofre. Quem o quer ver sofrer? A quem interessa
este sofrimento silenciado vergonhosamente? Por isso, é necessário que a ONU
considere, como medida a adoptar urgentemente, constituir para Cabinda um
PROGRAMA DE AUXÍLIO HUMANITÁRIO. Por isso, confiamos a V. Exa. este pedido.
O Povo de cabinda não pode esperar! Precisa de alimentos, precisa de
medicamentos, precisa de roupa! Precisa de Paz!Não uma paz a qualquer preço! Uma paz digna, genuína!
